Luke Barber
Flint Hills Fine Arts was founded by Luke Barber to bring classical drawing and painting instruction to the Flint Hills region. The studio focuses on building strong fundamentals through a structured progression, allowing students to develop their skills one step at a time.
Luke has been drawing and painting since childhood and has continued his own study of art through classes and independent practice for more than eight years. His goal is to provide students with the same kind of focused instruction that helped him develop as an artist, while creating a welcoming environment for both beginners and experienced students.

Draw Before You Paint
Drawing develops an understanding of proportion, shape, value, and form that provides the foundation for painting.

Learn Through Observation
Students work from carefully selected references, including Bargue plates and plaster casts, to develop accuracy and careful observation.

Progress Into Oil Painting
Once students have developed a foundation in drawing, they can begin applying those skills to oil painting, learning color, value, materials, and classical painting techniques.

Individual Instruction
Small classes allow students to receive individual feedback and guidance. Each student progresses at a pace appropriate to their experience and goals.
